We booked the New Year cruise mainly to see the fire works in Funchal on New Years Eve. My husband became ill on the flight out & spent two days on a drip on the medical ward. His care was excellent.

Our cabin was tiny (851). I had paid extra to be on deck 8 or 9 but due to a mix-up with a chap at Thomson he hadn't booked us an outside plus cabin as we thought. The beds were more like small singles and the bed linen wasn't changed all week, The cabin really needed upgrading as the furniture (such as there was) was very shoddy.

The food was average. Not what we were expecting at all. We asked for a sauce to go with a fish dish in the waiter-service restaurant (eg.Tartare or Hollandaise) & were given 3 sachets of ketchup!
