We cruise relatively often and have taken several trips on the Freedom and Adventure as well as cruising several times with Disney and Regent Seven Seas. My wife and I are in our early 40's and have two boys 14 and 12 years old. I knew when we booked this cruise that it was a large ship and I admit that I am not great with crowds but this was too much. The service really suffered on the Oasis, the main dining food for all meals was poor to average, and you have very few ports that a ship this size can enter. We booked this thinking that a few more at sea days would be nice but we found that when 6000 patrons are in a confined space, there are long lines for everything. Good luck riding in an elevator. 6000 people waiting for limited elevators was excruciating. I took the stairs most days which was a challenge b/c I recently broke my ankle and was in a brace. We would have to wait 7-10 mins for elevators during at sea days. Uggghh.

Food:

Our very first dinner on the ship took over 2 hours and everyones food but my son's was cold and poorly prepared. Service was extremely poor which may have been because we chose My Time Dining. We elected to eat at the specialty restaurants for most of our dinners after this and enjoyed them but there was a significant up charge to get the quality food and better service that you would expect from the main dinning room. In fact, we found that was a constant theme to the cruise. To get what you expect, you have to pay more. We also pre booked dining at Izumi, but found out after we were on the ship that the reservations on line are only for the sushi side of the restaurant and not the Hibachi side. It does not say that on the RCCL reservation page so be aware. I was a bit frustrated seeing numerous people in the dining room at dinner in bathing suits and T shirts and saw one guy barefoot. RCCL should enforce their dress code but I understand why the don't. Show some class people.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D8

I loved the location since it was close to the solarium, and on the same level as Central Park. I did not have an issue with the motion of the ship in the front but we never get sea sick. The cabin size is average. The bathroom is small and we had constant problems with the head not working and must have called guest services 3-4 times to fix but it would keep breaking down. I enjoyed the balcony but would have liked it to be a bit larger and to have a lounger outside as opposed to a few chairs and a table.
