  3. Norwegian Getaway
We chose the Getaway and the Haven for our 25th Anniversary celebration. This was our 7th cruise on NCL and the best one yet! Embarkation was smooth, and took less than an hour, however, the Haven check-in rooms are small, and they held us in there until the room was full and crowded, then finally took us up to the ship. We were very squished into the elevator, which was also not comfortable. Other than that, it was fine and smooth. We left our hotel at 11, and were in the Haven at 12:05. What we found that we enjoyed the most about this big, new ship was that even though there were many people, there are so many spaces and so much to do that we never felt it. With so many restaurants and entertainment venues, it felt like the intimacy of the smaller ships. We had the UDP so we only ate dinner in the specialty restaurants. Cagney's is still our favorite. We also tried Ocean Blue, and it was the favorite meal for both of us. It was worth the extra. We ate in the Haven for breakfast and a few lunches. We also ate lunch at Savor, Flamingo Grill and O'Sheehan's. All meals were good! For entertainment, we enjoyed Burn the Floor, but felt it was a little too long. Legally Blonde was fun! Our favorite nightly venue was Howl at the Moon dueling pianos. We also enjoyed the Mojito Bar and the music there. The atrium, which is open to the floor above, was a great place to enjoy the game shows, bands and other venues. It is a improved design in the newer ships. All 3 of the ports were docked, so we did not have to tender. We took an excursion on St. Thomas, which was wonderful, and attempted to take another in St. Maarten, which did not go well. The Shore Excursion desk was quick to fix the situtation, which was appreciated, especially since the issue was not their fault. We were impressed at their attention. Perhaps the highest praise I can give to NCL is that all of the staff seems to truly love their job. They are friendly, happy, fun, and seems to go above and beyond every service they provide. Our trip was made special by every one that we encountered. We can't wait for our next trip. There is so much to see on the Getaway that we want to go again as soon as possible!

Cabin Review

The Haven Courtyard Penthouse with Balcony
Cabin H5 16124
This cabin is 2 doors down from the Haven Bar and Restaurant, which is also where the concierge is stationed. It was a perfect location for us. Everything was so convenient. The room was spacious, the balcony was good for the two of us - we had breakfast on it and there was plenty of room. I enjoyed the 2 closets and the abundance of storage space. We were so spoiled that it will be hard to stay outside of the Haven ever again!
