We are experienced cruises over 60 cruises and 35 with Celebrity. So clearly we are Celebrity biased.
Embarkation day was a disaster. Other than a cruise starting in Ensenato it was the worse. We arrived at 1130 am and system changed for check in. We just got off the Silhouette in November and they changed everything so no one knew where to direct Elite Plus people and when we finally got to the right line it took 45 minutes for check in. We are spoiled. Usually takes 5 - 10. So not a good start.
Room was a veranda 6136 and it was like all cabins on a S class ship. We love the rooms and are used to them. No issues all week. Our room steward was just ok. He cleaned our room at a certain time and he did not vary however that was always when we return from breakfast and then the cafe bacio. So everyday when we returned at 11am he was still doing his thing. No big deal, but not great. Little things on the cruise kept this cruise from being outstanding.
Overall, we thought the cruise was just ok. We had just done Silhouette, and before that Constellation for out last 8 cruises in the last 2 years. This cruise just did not compare in Entertainment, food and officer interaction.
Food was just good not great. Waiter in select was outstanding. We had same table each night and ate anywhere from 615 to 630. We always when to Elite cocktail hour first and they were great.
Entertainment each night was just ok. Production shows were just ok. One singer was great. 2 magicians were below par. Alternate entertainment on this ship was poor. Only one guitar player and a string group. There was a party band. On past cruises there was usually two more groups of some kind. So there were not the choices that we have had on past cruises. Do not know why.
I thought ocean view food was just good. Having been on Silhouette for 30 days in November it was not anywhere as good. Fish and chicken options were poor on this ship. Fruit and salads were great.
Coffe bar was outstanding as is on all Celebrity.
We visited martini bar several nights and as usual it was a blast.
Officers were visible. Cruise director was not seen. Not same on other ships. Captains club hostess, Rossy was just ok. Not like others we have experienced.
We only did one excursion in Dominica. We visited a home for a carribbean meal. It was fun, but food just ok. Good experience.
Disembarkation day was good until customs. Only 3 Custom agents for all people. We left at 745, the first group after walkoffs took 45 minutes to get thru.
We had a great cruise but the few little things made it just ok. We will not be on Equinox for awhile.
Great location. Very convenient.
