Several plusses and several negatives.

Long time cruiser on RCCL (Diamond Plus) and generally have liked our cruises, but this one was near the bottom. There were 2 major problems. The first was our cabin, a Grand Suite. Being below the Windjammer/Pool area, our ceiling was the floor of the Windjammer/Pool. We had the sound of scraping chairs from 6:30 AM until 1:30 AM throughout the cruise. We had multiple problems with our sea pass cards not opening the cabin door (5 times in the first 3 days) until maintenance fixed the electronic lock. We had problems with the toilet not flushing, until maintenance fixed the pressure. In the evenings, while in the Caribbean, we could not get out cabin cool enough for our taste. The second major problem was the food. We were on Grandeur in August and the main dining room food was terrific, this time, other than New Years Eve, was below par. We ate in all of the specialty restaurants and Chef's table. We like sushi and loved Izumi and the chef's table was great. Giovanni's was pretty good, but we had a very bad experience in Chop's Grille. We both ordered the bronzino and the fish smelled and tasted fishy, maybe because it was old. We both turned our food back.

The ship is old and despite having been in dry dock recently for updates, the updates seem to be for the specialty restaurants and the aerial shows in the Centrum (which were pretty good, but this being our third trip on Grandeur, we didn't watch them as having seen them twice previously). The ship could use some repair, particularly the Solarium. Paint was peeling continuously (collecting on the lounges and the people sitting on them), tiles missing, the fountains inoperable, cushions seams open, etc. There were not attendants picking up used towels, plates or glasses. Tons of people saved lounges and them disappeared for hours.

Grand Suite

In addition, our room attendant was great. Our room was always clean and he never disturbed us, always knowing when we were gone. Once we asked him not to use bleach, because of the odor and it never happened again. Could no have asked for anything more.
