Went on board Mariner of the Sea from 19-22 December 2014. First impression of the ship was great, as it docked majestically at Marina Harbour in Singapore. Check-in was great and efficient, as different deck was allocated a specific time slot for check-in. There were some welcome drinks and cookies prior to boarding and great photographer with a very enthusiastic attitude, providing a rather positive vibe.

As it was lunch time, we proceeded quickly to the JADE cafe (Windjammer On the Aft) for lunch. The entrance into the cafe was greeted by service staff, reminding us to sanitise our hands before we enter. Upon entering the restaurant, we noticed that this ship was not able to accommodate that massive influx of diners at that point of time (though it happen throughout all the meal time, this was the worst incident). We took approximately about 45 minutes to secure a table without chairs and about another 15 minutes to settle down. Many diners with small families took large tables and also were rather apathetic to others who waiting in line for a table. The whole situation was so appalling and chaotic that it does not provide a pleasurable cruising experience to anyone at all. The situation can be better managed it there is a system and to have a crew, allocating table catered specifically to the number of diners in that particular group. Not only does it saves time, it will better provide a stress free experience for all ( isn't that what cruising is all about?).

Dinner at the Rhapsody in Blue was great. All the service staff was professional and a specific crew member would serve the same table throughout the whole cruise. They were the best I have ever seen on a cruise line after a rather unhappy experience at the buffet cafe. Service was prompt and efficient and was treated like a royal. Lots of attention was paid to the presentation and how the food was served though it came from the same kitchen. The service staff was also able to provide us with the relevant information we needed for the rest of our trip to make it a more pleasurable experience.

Toilet was choke on the second day of the cruise and no notification nor apology was given as to when it was rectified. Picture this, it happened throughout the aft portion of the ship! Means even the public toilet was affected. Bed was one of the best I have ever slept in though, as I was able to get 15 hours of sleep at one go on the first night of the cruise. Cabin attendant clean the room twice and was professional.
