Booked 2 week holiday from 19th Dec to 2nd Jan. One week on Thomson Majesty and one week at Arona Gran on Teneriffe. I will say at this stage the Arona Gran week was outstanding as always. New years evening was absolutely fabulous, fireworks display, the food every thing about the night.
However the ship was a different story. Before writing this review I have read a few other reviews written about the same period on the Thomson Majesty. If you read them they overall cover everything I found bad about the ship, including the soot from the funnel. Food lukewarm and mid week buffet served by staff because of the Norovirus. Watched staff rubbing down rails tables etc with same cloth thereby transferring virus. Staff appeared untrained, had to stop one at buffet trying to put my dinner onto a small plate which he had put a bun on for me. We paid in excess of £4000 for this trip and reckon this was about two thousand pounds too much in retrospect. We spoke to some people who had only paid around three hundred pounds for one week on board and two to three days at hotel. We had a problem with air conditioning in room and all staff did was to switch it off, this after five times of complaining, unbelievable. The jacussi onboard had dirty brown water in it, swimming pool freezing. When we attended the emergency muster drill at station 14 the attitude of the two staff there frivolous and completely unprofessional. Spent time laughing and joking, heaven help us if there had been an emergency real time.
