Cabin: Balcony

This cruise represented a lot of "firsts": First NCL, first balcony, first Caribbean cruise. Our prior 3 cruises were all on RCCL, with European itineraries, so we weren't sure what to expect with "freestyle cruising". But, overall, we were impressed with our experience. The itinerary was great, as was the price, and having excellent weather meant that we'll probably be spoiled now for future cruises.

Embarkation: a snap in Tampa. Only one minor detail omitted in our cruise docs, and that was which cruise terminal we should head for. But, once we got there, it was fairly easy to find the ship! We got dropped at the pier at 1:00 pm and were onboard by 1:40. Muster drill was at 3:30, and consisted entirely of "how to strap on your life vest". Literally!

Because of numerous price drops after final payment was made, I asked our TA for whatever "extras" they could provide, and we got upgraded from the 9th deck to the 10th, close to the aft elevators, and some OBCs to spend. Upon entering our cabin, which was nicely laid out, fully functional, including the much-anticipated balcony, and clean as a whistle, we noticed some OBC coupons that far exceeded our expectations. Not quite sure how we scored these, but who's complaining? We could use up to $150 towards our tips, with the excess for other purchases.

Cabin was clean, nicely appointed, and comfortable. Everything was functional, and the bed was fine. Cabin steward was invisible until the last day of our cruise. No complaints.
