We were a family of 4 and frequent cruisers. I travel with my wife in a balcony cabin and get an inside nearby for my 89 yr old mother in law and sister. We got guaranteed cabins and save a lot. We were 9044 and my mother in law and sister were below at 8090, in an upgraded obstructed ocean view so that was real nice. The cabins were large and comfortable

Embarkation/Disembarkation-we arrived at Rome airport at 7:30 AM on day of embarkation and took a Bobs Limousines to port. Private transfers and tours work best for us with my mother in law. We arrived at port about 9:30 AM and had to wait to noon to board the ship. We expected the wait but we waited in a tent with few chairs, no heat or food and just some terrible instant hot chocolate to drink. The ship is docked far out on a pier and it is too far to walk to town, shops or cafés. We were told there was a shuttle but didn't see it so we just sat and waited. Disembarkation was easy and organized.

Food-was disappointing. The first night my wife ordered duck contif in Alcazar dining room and thought she had a bone but to her surprise it was a large metal staple. She showed the waiter who showed it to the head waiter who took our cabin number. He said the chef would call us. We never heard from the chef or anyone else for that matter. Very poor customer service. My wife could have chipped a tooth or cut her mouth or even worse if she had swallowed that staple. Just a good thing this dud not happen to my mother in law.
