We took the southern Caribbean Christmas cruise. Embarkation was a breeze. Our suite was nicely appointed with a large balcony- this ship does not have DVD players and there is no library to borrow from, unlike other Princess ships. The central area of the ship is really beautiful.

We had any time dining with mixed results. Some meals were delicious, others mediocre, a couple were not good. The Symphony dining Staff was cordial, if indifferent. Sabatinis, which was a highlight for us on the Golden Princess, wasn't a standout except for the tiramisu and the lovely staff. They also did a very nice breakfast.

The small mid ship pool is way to small to accommodate the passengers. If you are single, or don't have kids/teenagers with you, this won't present a problem though. It would have been nice to have a walking deck that went the whole length of the ship, but the Royal is broken up and there is no central staircase. The horizon buffet was surprisingly good and I must say, the pastries and desserts on this cruise are the best I've ever had.
