Sail Date: Jan 2004

We were sailing with a group of 16. We stayed on the Queen Mary the first night. The rooms were fine for 1 night. We had a refurbished room with a double bed. Most of our group ate in the casual rest. on Sat. night. Very good food. We sat in the bar and listened to the Elvis guy. The next morning we did early check in on the Queen Mary. Approx. 9:15 We checked out of our rooms about 10:30 and headed to the cruise terminal. Most of us rolled our luggage to the terminal. There was a Carnival rep. that would let you know if your luggage was too large for the scanners. It was a short walk to check your luggage. We were one of the first groups in line. I think we boarded the ship at 12:00 to 12:30. They saw bottles in my carry-on. I told them they were wine and they took a quick peek and let me continue to board the ship. My friend said his bottle was "mouthwash" and they wanted to see it. A young man just looked at the top and let my friend continue to board. They will take bottles that are not wine or champagne. My friend was lucky that his brandy bottle looked enough like mouthwash!

Quickly passed by the photographers and away we went. The Pride is a beautiful ship. We ate at the Mermaid Grill many times. Food was very good. Our cabin was much like our cabin on the Spirit. I wouldn't stay in 8218 again. It was very noisy. I think the Mermaid Grill was above us. It sounded like carts rolling over our heads. Besides the noise, the cabin was fine. Our group listened to the jazz trio many nights. They were very good. I had a hot stone massage. It was great! I am not sure it was worth 165.00. Our friend won the slot tournament. 500.00. She also won around 900.00 on slot machines. Lucky, Lucky, Lucky! We ate at Davids supper club. It was wonderful! I could eat there every night. The regular dining room was fine. The prime rib and lobster was my favorite. Our waiter John from India was fun. Very quiet, dry sense of humor. I bonded with him by the end of the cruise. My husband went to the art auction. The art is very nice but very expensive. Do your research before purchasing on the ship. We purchased perfume at a very good price on the ship.

Weds. was Puerto Vallarta. Our group did the Tequila Factory and Old Town tour. Great fun. We had lots of samples! Thursday was Mazatlan. My husband and I did Randis horses on Stone Island. Randi wasn't feeling well that day and didn't ride. This was still the highlight of our trip. She has a very nice mexican family that took us on our ride. The lunch at Victors was to die for! I highly recommend this ride. We booked it ourselves online.
