We had taken 3 other Inaugural cruises (Freedom, Oasis, Allure) with Royal Caribbean and loved them all, but this one on Quantum was a major disappointment. Embarkation was typical of the whole cruise: great promise (the iPads will eventually work well, I'm sure), but failed execution (doors opened and everyone rushed in helter-skelter).
Dining was my biggest let-down. I'm a vegetarian, and the choices were HORRIBLE. For example, in Silk I was offered a carrot & cucumber bun (not my idea of dinner, but I tried it anyway and hated it) or fried rice (on a $3,500 cruise? Really?). The Windjammer didn't offer 1 vegetarian sandwich the whole cruise, and its other offerings were dismal. The Grande and Chic each had 1 delicious option, but that was it. I doubt that, as a vegetarian, I'll take another cruise with dynamic dining, unless the menus improve.
We LOVED Ripcord (the skydiving simulator) and enjoyed Northstar and the bumper cars. Fortunately we learned from other passengers how to get reservations, because we heard 3 different versions of how to get tickets, and the information was misleading.
The cabin location, size, and layout were fine.
