Living in south Florida, we have taken many cruises and our choice of cruise line in the past was always the princess cruise line as we rated their service and food very high and their entertainment exceptional. In past years we ran from one show to a different later show and when not at a show, we also enjoyed the various lounge acts and game shows.

We have just returned from a week long cruise on the regal princess and have never been so disappointed. The decor of this ship is beautiful and probably the nicest we have seen. I appreciated the design of the ship which allows one to walk alongside the smoky casino, rather than having to walk through it. However, the major design flaw which we noted was the lack of shaded seating areas poolside. Additionally, the lounge chairs were uncomfortable. While the ship has cushions to put on the seating for night time movies under the stars, they refuse to allow passengers to use those during the day.

Upon arriving on the ship we were pleasantly surprised by the delicious lunch, with many Indian and Asian food selections, which we found unusual. However, it seemed that the buffets were filled with inexpensive casserole dishes and Indian food over the remainder of the cruise. The food in the dining room was inferior to food in the past. There were many nights when my husband and I had difficulty finding dishes that appealed to us. The fish dishes that I ordered were inedible and I returned them. In past years, when I found something that I particularly cared for, I was able to request that again for future nights, or if I had a special request, the crew did everything they could to accommodate us. Besides poor food quality, the service on the regal princess was substandard. We waited nightly at least 10 minutes before we could order drinks or our meals. We never saw the head waiter and don't know if they've abandoned the maitre 'd. We never saw anyone. It seems that the waiters were over worked and were required to act as busboys, wine stewards and waiters.
