This was my first time on the Breakaway, and only my second cruise; both were with NCL so I can't compare it with other cruiselines. The other cruise was on the Gem.

Overall, the weather really put a damper on things. I stayed away from deck parties until the night of the fireworks due to cold, wind, rain. Similarly, we made very little use of our balcony or of the swimming pools. We couldn't go to GSC due to rough seas.

All that being said, however, we had a great time, mostly because of the wonderful entertainment on board. We enjoyed Rock of Ages; I LOVED Howl at the Moon; Second City was very funny. I regret not knowing earlier about Howl at the Moon and Second City; saw them each twice, and I would have seen them more often had I known. The party I did go to really rocked! As a bonus, Iron chef Geoffrey Zakarian was on board and gave a Q and A as well as a cooking demonstration.

Room was great; at first I couldn't imagine how we would stow away all our stuff, but it turned out not to be an issue at all.
