My husband and I are just back from our seventh cruise and our first Celebrity cruise.

The Silhouette is a beautiful ship - wandering the ship cameras in hand was a pleasant way to spend the hours after we boarded. She was obviously designed to be photogenic and she is. The central atrium and towering library shelves, the live tree suspended over lower decks, the unique (and often uncomfortable) seating lend themselves to photographs. Silhouette is sleek, modern, and fun. Most of all - fun.

We sailed on December 7 and were given a letter upon boarding saying that we would miss our San Juan stop. However, during that night a medical emergency forced the ship to return to Ft. Lauderdale, so we lost time and would have had a very short stop in St. Kitts, our second port. So it was wisely decided that we would skip St. Kitts and have a full day in San Juan. I know that this inconvenienced some passengers, but I heard few, if any, complaints. Most cruisers seemed out to have the best time they could. (Passengers recieved $100/cabin or $200/suite OBC recompense + port fees. The OBC, if unused would be returned to the passenger's credit card.)

Cabin Review

Celebrity Suite

Cabin CS

The suite is quiet, with a separate sleeping area, adequate storage, a comfortable seating area and a small verandah. We had one comfortable recliner on the verandah, one cheapie, a small table and two chairs. The bed was comfortable with really good pillows. Unfortunately the ship's motion was reflected not only in the usual creaking sounds, but also in what can be best described as pinging sounds in the ceiling above the bed. These kept us awake one night in rough seas, but a pillow over the head helped. This cabin shares the butler and stewards with the Penthouse (which is two doors down), so service is excellent.
