Eastern & Western Caribbean.
This was our first “Back to Back” and it was a true vacation. Packing & unpacking is such a chore and surprisingly 580 people stayed onboard for this 2 week cruise. I didn’t realize it was such a popular choice.
We had a balcony stateroom on the 6th deck toward the back of the ship which made it easy to take the elevator down to the main dining room and up to the Lido/Buffet. I think the back or mid ship is more stable in rough seas. And yes, we did have some large, swells the first week due to the wind.
It was also our first time for “As you Wish” dining. At 6pm, there was no line, we requested a “table for 2” and were seated at table 183 which was perfect and we were able to have it for the rest of our cruise.
We used to go to the dining room for breakfast and lunch but found that the dining room service was very slow and the Lido had a much better selection. The Lido food was always hot and the breakfast omelet stations were fantastic! Fresh squeezed orange juice! At noon each day the Lido entrée section had a different main course – whole roast turkey, leg of lamb, pork and the salmon en couchette which was elegant and delicious. The scallops and bok choy were excellent. Many items that were never seen in the dining room.
During the 2nd week, we took advantage of the “laundry special”, which was $20 for all you could fit in the bag. We were very pleased. The shirts were ironed and put on hangers and the underwear folded, wrapped in tissue and put in a basket.
One of the best kept secrets is “Happy Hour”. What it really means is that you get your 2nd drink for just $1.00. Check with the waiter for details. It also includes hot snacks. Waiters Oliver and Dante in the Ocean Bar treated us like family and made us feel really welcome.
Our favorite entertainment was “Adagio” – a Ukrainian couple – he on the violin and she on the piano. They played classical and familiar music in a lounge setting every evening.
A special note of thanks to our Wine Steward – Ma Theresa. Also to Fandhi who delighted us with his after dinner figs, mints and ginger treats. Finally, kudos to our room stewards Bari and especially Ruli whose laugh and happy personality is truly missed.

San JuanWe asked the attendant and he directed us to the free trolley, just 2 blocks from the dock. We had a nice ride out to the fort and back - and saw lots of sights along the way. A good, free tour. We're not much on walking. :(View All 3,767 San Juan Cruise Port Reviews
