I have sailed on many cruise lines and on many ships and I will never forget how low the standards, with exceptions, of how Carnival was. I injured my leg one day and was unable to weight bare on it. I asked reception for help, in the aid of a wheelchair for a day until I could move and put weight back on it. They told me it would cost $175 for the week. I said I only wanted it for the day, they failed to let me rent it for the day. The head of customer services said the following day to me that in an emergency, like mine, the fee should have been waved, which was of no use to me, having spent a day and a half in my cabin with my wife.

I approached the gel hygiene machine when approaching to get back on board to find it empty. I went through the scanner inside the ship and again went to a gel machine to clean my hands to find that empty. I informed the officers that both the outside and internal machines didn't have gel in them for them to look at me in a blank manner and seem not to give a toss. I have never throughout a cruise ship seen so little emphasis given to hygiene as on the Carnival Freedom.

When cruising the thing I look forward to is the high stand and service at meal times. Not on this cruise. My wife and I in the end ended up eating in the buffet because the standard of food, the service, and the temperature of the food fell way short of what we have always had in the past.
