  3. Carnival Dream
1st time on the Dream but 2nd sailing out of NOLA. Ship is in reasonably good shape and about what we expected. My wife and I cruised alone again this time. Embarkation: walked across street from hotel (Omni) and checked in early. We were on the ship by 11:30 and able to drop off our carry on items by 12:00. Had a quick lunch and explored the ship a bit. Cabin: usual inside for us. Good storage space and surprisingly comfortable bed. Carnival does not have extra egg crate's per our request but did not need one. Good storage in bathroom as well. We were on deck 7 forward in good location. Ship: way more rolling than we expected for a ship this large. Surprisingly small pool but loved the water slides and outdoor theater. Tried the putting course but were interrupted by unsupervised children. No trouble getting chairs at any time. Public spaces well kept and clean. Dining: Did not eat other than main dining room and buffet. Same menu as last several Carnival cruises so no surprises. Food generally good and they still have lobster night unlike Norwegian. My wife tried the Pasta Bar and said it was quite good. Bars: we simply love Thirsty Frog, Carnivals own beer available on tap. Bottled beer remains expensive and drink of the day was $7.95. Drinks were good (what few we had as we drink more off ship). Ports: Cozumel; we took cab to Palancar (free beach) and snorkeled ( just O.K.) expensive cab rides $20 one way. Grand Cayman; went to turtle farm again (so much fun) then took local bus ($2.50 pp) to Cemetary Beach (no services and no crowds) for exceptional snorkeling. Then bus back to town for a little shopping and cold drinks. Jamaica; same old stuff. All beaches cost to get on, we went to Doctors Cave Beach and shared a bus $10 one way. O.K. snorkeling w/ over priced drinks so walked 1/2 way back to ship and picked up cold beer in local markets. Constant harassment by locals to buy "ganja" and everything else. We plan to visit Negril if we go here again. Sea days: on 2nd sea day back the ship had to have 2 Coast Guard medivacs off the aft end of ship 3 hrs apart and so we arrived back in NOLA quite early in the am. Disembarkation: smooth and we walked over to Norwegian terminal and checked in for 2nd leg of cruise.

1st time on the Dream on back to back w/ Norwegian Dawn.
