My wife and I have been all over the Caribbean many times since we have lived in Florida for over 40 years. The real destination for us was the Epic. After hearing all the stories and comments we had to see for ourselves. I was some what concerned after some of the comments in the reviews, but I am laid back so I knew it would still be fun.

Embarkation - very well organized and fast. After the paperwork is completed your are given a card with a group number and wait in a large waiting room, some what like an airport. This prevents a mad rush when they start boarding. This worked great and I was amazed how everyone waited for their group to be called.

Ship Layout -- after about an hour of exploring I was able to get anywhere easily. Remember the carpet in the corridors for the cabins is color coded Red -- even number, Blue -- odd number. The lights are also like that on the elevators. Yes this is a big ship, so the corridors are going to seem long. Just locate the closest elevator forward and aft of your cabin and take that one depend on where you are going. The public areas are well organized, but I did not like the casino taking so much room and you had to walk through it all the time. The smoke was not bad on this trip, but I see how it could be if the ship is full.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BC

when you first walk into the cabin it is visually very nice. Then you look at the details. First the storage is great and well laid out. The balcony was larger that other we have had. Now the other parts -- the sink is in the bedroom and is so small and shallow it is impossible not to splash water. Also when some one is using the sink you cannot get by them, the path is so narrow. The bed is so close to the counter that you cannot get by someone standing there. The bed is curves on the end and this shortened the bed. In fact I am only 5' 9" and when laying near the side my feet would be off the bed. Shower was a good size but no privacy. Same thing with the toilet -- how ever in our cabin it felt strange using the toilet when I was also most next to my wife's head in the bed -- the bed is right next to the toilet area. There are some cabins with the bed switched to be close to the balcony. Make sure you ask for them. Just remember no privacy -- OK for a couple, but not if other are also in the room.
