  3. Carnival Breeze
This was our 1st cruise on the Breeze, but we have been on many Carnival ships including one of the sister ships the Dream. Our first impression was great. Our cruise was an 8 day cruise over Thanksgiving. Embarkation was fast and efficient. Our time from entering the terminal to getting on the ship was less than 30 minutes. Living in Orlando, we are used to waiting in lines at theme parks, so this line seemed easy, moved much faster, and seemed well organized as it should. The decor of the ship is not like any other Carnival ship we have been on, and we have been on many. The bars and lounges had the feel of places in Florida, not Las Vegas. The decor of the hallways was very much like a Caribbean hotel, not like Vegas. It was very nice and welcoming. The Lido deck buffet area was tropical and seemed very relaxing. Without going into too much narrative, I decided to list the pros and cons of the ship below. Pros: Decor on the ship; very nice and tropical Speed of elevators; mid ship where glass elevators were, there was always an elevator close by Serenity Deck; far more chairs, hammocks, room for adults. We always found a place to sit and clamshells were always available Food in dining room; good quality of steaks and entrees Sea-day brunch in dining room; really good alternative to buffet Taste bar; staff was never friendly, but the food was good Plenty of room to walk down promenade; photo booths are off to the side and far less obtrusive Waterslides; fun! Sports area; awesome! mini golf and ropes course were fun Lots of outdoor tables for eating on deck 5 Cons: Comedy club is WAY TOO SMALL. Every show was too crowded Entertainment staff seemed non-existent on this cruise. parties on deck were duds. Variety shows were terrible; no live music and too much use of movie screen High Casino minimums for tables; roulette tables are $2 chips with $10 minimum Too much smoke on casino floor Bar service in Main Dining room. Family restaurant needs better name for shots from the bar. We were offered on various nights Buttery Nipple, Sex on the Beach, and a BJ. Really? Letting the same 2 kids (and same 2 adults) sing song after song at Karaoke every night. Move a repeat performer to the back of the line anytime a new person signs up. Lack of variety on lunch buffet. Same menu every day. Overall this was a very nice ship with many things to do. We enjoyed the ports of call. We would probably sail again on the Breeze if the itinerary was good for us.

Cabin Review

Balcony
Cabin 8D 8228
We had a balcony room on the 8th deck forward. A couple things stood out to us. The toilet seat is so thin you will think you are sitting on a toilet with the seat up.Shampoo and soap in shower are watered down and useless.Showers in room provide lots of water and are nice. Plenty of storage for all your things, but never enough hangars so we always bring extra with us.First cabin we have ever been in where we had to turn the A/C down a bit because it was cold. We always bring a fan when we cruise but this time we never used it.

  • Ayo Rock Formations
There is much more to see at this stop then they allow time for. It takes 15 minutes just to climb to the top and come down. that was all the time they gave us. No time to explore and take really good pictures.

It is closed. It is always closed. You show up only to buy $8 drinks from trucks in the parking lot.

The cruise line actually gave us 1/2 our money back because everyone on the tour complained to the excursion desk. The tour was useless, and we left an hour late because we had to wait on a large family who couldn't seem to show up on time.

  • Cave Tour
The caves were interesting, but as with the rest of the tour, they rush everyone through so you can't enjoy what you are seeing. I am sure it is boring to a tour guide that sees it every day, but I have never been and would like a few minutes to look at all the formations.

We took a tour of the Curacao liquor factory, but they really push you through these places. There was no walking around the liquor factory. We were escorted through the museum so fast you couldn't take anything in. Hardly any time for pictures. Hurry up and get your samples so we can get back on the bus. we wanted to buy gifts for our friends in the shop and our guide was rushing us to get out.

We enjoyed the island of Curacao. We were excited to be in Curacao until 9:30 pm, but then disappointed to learn that everything closes around 5pm, so by the time we finished our tour, all the shops were closed. You would think on cruise ship days, shop owners would remain open a bit longer, but none were. We did find a great place to have dinner right next to the floating bridge. Our meals were very good and reasonably priced. This port visit reminded me of my trips to Key west where the ship pulls in at 7 am and nothing is open until noon, and we leave at 1pm. In Curacao you arrive at 1pm and stay until 9:30 but everything closes at 5. Nice scheduling Carnival.

  • Grand Turk
We have been here many times and taken excursions like the Jeep adventure or ATV adventure. This time we opted to go right to Margaritaville because it always is a fun place to swim, drink, and watch the games. The DJ always makes it a party and entertains the crowd with competition games between the cruise ships in port. I highly recommend Margaritaville as the place to go when you visit here.

The Cave of Wonders was not so great. They are very concerned about people taking pictures and they keep everyone close together in a group. I would have liked some time to walk around and look at the caves, but they really pushed us through. You go down about 100 steps, but take an elevator out at the end.
