Cruise background- This was our 18th cruise ,we've cruised on Carnival ,NCL,Holland,Royal caribbean,Celebrity ,a few times each to ,eastern, western ,exotic caribbean,Bermuda,Panama Canal,New England, have been on the Harley cruise by ETA where you bring your bike onboard the ship. From port hole rooms to owners suites. So we pretty much know what to expect. Embarkation -,typical long lines .NCL employees seemed confused ,when we mentioned that we had booked a AA suite they told us to wait in line . After getting to registration desk[1/2hour] we were directed to our concierge who was quite surprised that we weren't directed to her immediately. No big deal just confused employees or poor management .

We had upgraded to the owners suite [AA category] which was a very nice cabin ,with separate bedroom ,2 bathrooms ,beautiful wood throughout .Being this is one of the 2 top suites on the Spirit I was expecting at least a LCD TV ,But no just a plain picture tube TV. Room was large plenty of area to relax, lots of storage, separate dining area ,Bar with refrig. large glass enclosed shower, separate jacuzzi tub . The only disappointment was the balcony which was extremely narrow [3or4 ft.] basically useless .I've been on the Dawn were we had a AC penthouse suite and could have fit 6or8 lounge chairs on that balcony . Still a very nice suite showing only minor wear. excellent concierge named Mareike , always personally answered her phone . Got to meet the captain Really nice down to earth friendly guy ,we hit it off well as we're both into Harley Davidson motor cycles

The ship- This ship had slow elevators ,now if you haven't taken a lot of cruises,or sailed on newer ships ,you must be thinking what a whiner or cry baby this guy is.When there's 2000 people moving around you learn to appreciate faster elevators ,Due to a recent injury I had to depend on the elevators much more . I found myself waiting and waiting ,they were slow and not enough. This ship had some decent shops onboard with fair prices for clothes ,cologne .The liquor was more onboard the ship than at A H RISE in ST.Thomas and its run by a separate company ,so they won,t price match . BY your liquor on ST.Thomas. The food- Raffles buffet[I like to eat breakfast at the buffet] ,fair to good food and varied, but confused service ,and no trays ,this is the only ship that I was on that didn,t have trays .Try carrying a plate ,napkin with utensils, and a something to drink at the same time without a tray. Bad news ,the staff in the buffet didn't seem helpful, nor were they willing to help older people carry their food to a table ,Many seemed like they didn't care ,to the point of being rude. Severely over priced soda card ,48.00+15% for 8 days for tap soda ,come on couldn't the beancounters figure out something better than overcharging for soda. My wife and I had diner in LeBistro twice and we both thought it was excellent ,Cagneys was also very good ,as was Teppanyaki . The fitness center was poor ,to small and jammed in a corner ,the only good thing about it was ,it never seemed to be crowded, decent machines but way to cramped .Appears fitness center was a after thought . We received excellent service in our suite and for that reason I had most of the tip charged to my account taken off and I tipped the people who deserved it. I will probably cruise with NCL again ,but unless I get a real deal on one of their suites I most likely won't book on the Spirit again. WE had a excellent time and it was a good vacation, but I prefer newer ships
