We were a bit nervous about 32 days on a ship but we could not have been wrong. The Volendam crew made us feel welcome from first boarding in Sydney. We liked the idea of a smaller ship and the bonus we found out on the way was we got to sail through the Barrier Reef out of Cairns and also the smaller ports could take Volendam where alot of the larger ships cant get into these lovely smaller towns that do rely on tourism. All the ports we visited were fantastic and alot of them we did out own thing. The excursions were well thought out and good informative guides on the way. My husband and I said on the last day as we sailed through the Sydney Heads back into port could we think of any negitives - not one.

Cabin Review

Large Ocean-View Stateroom
Cabin EE 3322
Our cabin was Lower Prommenade which was a great spot to go out on the deck and take a lounger to read or walk around the deck for excercise. The cabin had everything we need to make us comfortable - a massive amount of storage and suit cases fitted under the bed. She is looking a tad tired and after the dry dock at present am sure she will come out looking a millon dollars.

  • Adelaide
We had a friend in Adelaide and hired a car to go to the German Village Handoff and then to the Barossa Valley. We loved the country and the gardens were maganificent. The city is well maintained with pristine gardens and the river very clean. I definately would love to see more of this lovely city.

We did a hop on hop off bus as we wanted to explore ourselves. Darwin has alot of history which we found the museums and Art Gallery very interesting. There is lot of lovely parks and buildings that have been well preserved.

The Port in Hobart was lovely with lots of eateries and craft shops. The city is well maintained with lots of lovely parks. We did the Bonarong Wildlife Sancturary and we were blown away by the natural state of the way the animals are kept. The highlight was feeding the kangaroos - seeing the Tasmanian devil and wombats.
