We are a family of 4 (two active boys- 3 and 6 years) and booked our cruise last minute in October 2014 to make the most of saving some money.

We booked an obstructed balcony view and were pleased to be upgraded a week before the cruise to an extended balcony - Room 6257.

We drove from South Australia and parked our car in the Sydney Opera House carpark for $20 per day (cruise parking). Then we walked to the cruise terminal. Currently the Sydney overseas cruise terminal is being renovated, but despite this getting on the boat only took 45 minutes from start to finish. We opted for the first check in time from 1pm.

Extended Balcony

Cabin 8J

Our room was bigger and nicer than expected. The bunks and queen bed set up worked perfectly for us. The mattress was lovely and I had no problem sleeping (in fact I had the best sleep of my life on that boat). There were no wear and tear issues with the room furniture and it was quite lovely. The TV was quite dated (at least a 10 year old tube TV), but we rarely used it anyway. The bathroom was very functional, and the shower thermostat settings are great. The balcony was unobstructed and was sheltered which was great as we had a couple of rough sea days, but were still able to sit out and enjoy the view. No exterior noise. Room was Midship and close to the elevators which eliminated walking
