I had never been to the Baltics before and wanted to see what I had been missing, especially cities like St Petersburg in Russia which I had heard so much about from friends.
Having sailed from Dover we were able to pass through the Kiel Canal in Germany, firstly at night time and then during the day on the way back, which was only possible due to the relatively small size of our ship, the Braemar.
We called at Kiel and Travemunde in Germany and Stockholm in Sweden on the way to St Petersburg in Russia, and then Tallinn, in Estonia, and finally Denmark's Copenhagen on the return to Dover.
The cabin was compact but very comfortable and always kept spotlessly clean. The beds were comfortable to sleep on, and there was enough room to get around - not that we spent too much time in the cabin apart from sleeping. The bathroom was a good size and always kept stocked with fresh towels etc
