Where do we start. Well, I am a stay at home Dad in Michigan and this was our first cruise, ever. We booked a Family Ocean View that holds 6 so that was nice. The view was lovely and room was spacious so that gets a great review to start. The booking process was a joke. I am Canadian and was told that this itinerary was great if you do not have a passport which I do not. This was booked in March 2014. Before anyone blames me for not doing my due diligence, I trusted the sales agent and the many other operators since I had called R.C. many times since March due to my excitement and with plenty of rookie questions. The final outcome was I could board with just my permanent resident alien card, however as long as I do not get off the ship at Labadee, Hatti then I will be fine. (This location was the only limitation and this should of never been sold to us just like they would of never tried to sell us on say a European cruise, knowing I do not nor will I have a passport in time, this cause my wife and I a couple of very concerned and very upsetting news because R.C. had made it out to be that we can't take this cruise and I was livid!) so, we flew in from Chicago to Fort Lauderdale and that went well considering we traveled with 4 boys. We arrived at Port Everglades, around noon Nov 17th (Not impressive terminal, very industrial and just a mass of people in lines is all and concrete).and the young gentleman that checked out documents was very sharp and we were very impressed with him for sure. Then we boarded the ship and that was the moment I had been looking forward to for many months. We were impressed with the over all cleanliness of the ship, and we were in awe since this was a first, for all of us. We went and ate at the Windjammer rating 2.5/5 Cafe...the most over rated daily eatery I have seen so far. It was what i call "cafeteria" quality, bland, and same menu all week and they close at 9pm! no late night food and Sorrentos 3/5 is NOT good enough to leave as the only late night food option, room service was a joke because it was very limited in choices and it takes a minimum of 50 min and we waited 2 hrs at one point. Chops Grille 4/5, also over rated, I was told by many that Lobster was INCLUDED and it wasn't, there was a huge 21$ upcharge if you wanted Lobster so I was very upset because I am not a steak guy, we went there for my wife's birthday. The steak was good but not great and the atmosphere of Chops was amazing! I enjoyed Olive or Twist, which is a nicer styled lounge bar that sits atop of the ship and the service and atmosphere was amazing, highly recomment! 5/5! The main dining hall as I call it (Michalangelo's) was superb! 5/5! service, atmosphere and food quality, can not rave enough about this! In fact, if you are on a budget like we were, do NOT book at Chops...eat every night at the main dining option. Then there was Adventure Ocean and the kid's loved it and we loved the facilities. This gets a bad review because of the mandatory pick up and drop off times literally ruined any free time for my wife and I, constantly getting and dropping kids but you have to hold on to them for 2 hrs at a time and drop off say at 2pm is when the Ice Show starts...not cool. Other ships let you get your child for lunch and drop them back off 20 min or say 60 min later....This cruise was for the adults, and it turned out that our kids had the blast. After all the work, traveling, poor schedules for adults with kids, we would not recommend this cruise line. We have seen many awesome reviews and we understand that we may very well be in the minority with our over all review but it's a heads up to anyone considering Royal Caribbean. We are going to cruise agian, hopefully in fall of 2015. That will be either on Carnival Breeze (very big and much better Camp Carnival options!) or splurge for the Disney experience.

Royal "Wow"d us but in a bad way. Mike.

Cabin Review

Family Oceanview Stateroom

Cabin FO

Very decent room for our large family of 6 when most cruise lines do not even offer this size and at a great price. Only negative is that your forever away from everything so prepare to walk...a lot.
