I had a fun cruise, because of the company I was with - the ship was horrible. While the crew was great, the ship's decor and the food were completely dissappointing. I've cruised with other cruise lines and the food was spectacular and always presented beautifully. The "buffet" on the EPIC was like a high school cafeteria - no presentation at all, and nothing served that I would serve in my home. The idea of having specialty restaurants was a joke, the same food is served in the Taste and Manhattan dining rooms. The only good food I had in 14 days was while attending the "Chef's Table" dinner and eating at Teppenyaki.

The state of the ship was depressing - dark and old and not well kept. There was literally no quiet place on the ship. Even in the library - which was situated next to a noisy bar and had about 20 books. We finally foumd a quiet place to play cards by going into one of the closed restaurants diniring room (La Cucina). The "quiet" bathing spot was also a joke, no one was keeping kids from running through the area and when the issue was raised the crew members just shrugged and said they were sorry.

The guest services desk is situated next to the gathering area where loud movies and videos and singers play, so when you went to speak to anyone in guest services you had to shout to be heard???????!!!!!!!!

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Mid ship is usually a good choice because you are close to the elevators - not so on the Epic - the elevators are closer to the bow and stern. Cabin is very poorly laid out, not one place in the cabin where two people can pas each other - always have to move to let the other peron pass. The ship's telephone has a clock, but you can't depend on it - it does not update when the time changes. You cannot hear any announcements when in the cabin unless you turn on the TV - and then you have to turn up the volume to full to hear the announcement and you can imagine how horrible it is when the announcement ends and regular programming returns - we nearly broke our necks trying to get to the volume each time.
