  3. Celebrity Solstice
The Celebrity Solstice and its sister ship the Equinox are both great ships that cater to all passengers tastes and pockets. Having been on the Equinox twice, I still prefer it. The Solstice, being older, I believe is now ready for an overhaul. The service, the food and the staff were all outstanding. Normally< i am quick to criticize cruise ship food, but not this time. Most meals were good to excellent. The staff was polite but friendly. Well trained and eager to please. Concierge class cabins on deck 10 were adequate falling on the side of smallish feel. Furniture still quite serviceable, but showing signs of wear. Door lock was quirky often requiring 2 or 3 attempts before opening The ship itself generally is in good condition, albeit, it is begin to show its age (approx 6 yrs.) and it creaked and rumbled on rough sea days like an old wood vessel. Door to the balcony did not seal properly so wind sounds were heard on rough nights. Ship decor was the most disappointing. It just did not feel elegant, nor attractive. This is particularly true in the theater. Entertainment was so - so, particularly on the music side. Except for an excellent Jazz quartet, the other three lounge bands were just OK. One duet was assigned a Latin music night and it had no experience nor background music. Ball room cha-chas were not exactly what the Latin loving community had in mind. Large number of shore tour choices were offered. But must were significantly more expensive than the same tour purchased from local operators. Example, a very scenic and highly rated 4 hr train ride was offered for US$249. The train ticket could be purchased at the station for the equivalent of US$80. That meant that the 15 minute bus ride to and from the ship costs $169! Embarkation was the usual mass of people with the customary delays. Dis-embarkation was fast and smooth. The public announcements were made by a sensuous but hard to understand female that always lef us scratching our head as to what was being said. Still, I had a great experience and an overall good time

Solstice still a great ship but now needs updating

Cabin Review

Concierge Class
Cabin C3 1170
Adequate, not overly roomy. Door to veranda did not seal properly. Toilet tissue quality extremely poor. Need to bring your own, like in the old days. Everything was very clean and the house keeping staff was friendly and helpful.
