This was my first time on the Liberty, coming off a disappointing trip on the Carnival Dream. The Liberty is a pretty and clean ship. The design is not my favorite but the decor was great. The service on the Liberty was exceptional. Our room steward, Dennis, and our MDR team, Joy, Eduardo, and David, were wonderful. We found the service in the bars, casino, gifts shops, etc...to be good as well.
I was disappointed in the entertainment aboard the Liberty. There was a limited number of variety/stage shows, many nights with no comedians, and the sea days were overrun with trivia (I personally love trivia and even I was tired of it.)
We had a BIG problem in the casino on the last sea day. The slot machines in about 1/2 the casino went down and no one knew how to fix it. As a result, we were basically held hostage for nearly 2 hours--the casino staff refused all requests to hand pay the amounts in our machines and told us if we took our cards out and walked away, they could not guarantee our money would transfer to our accounts. I was finally able to shame the casino manager into offering a free bar drink to those within earshot, but nothing was offered to us. The odd thing is that we could still play our slot machines; we just couldn't cash out. So we sat there and played (what else were we going to do) and lost and lost. Finally, after nearly 2 hours, the staff did hand pays, as we'd been requesting the whole time.
The balcony was a little dirty, but they did do cleaning and maintenance on about the 3rd day of the cruise. Our stateroom was kept very clean. The bed was comfortable as always. We had a very sluggish shower drain which caused a minor flood when we first used it. The plumber was very quick to respond and the drain was repaired right away.
