We truly enjoyed our visits to the cities of Arles, Vienne, Perouges, Nice and Monte Carlo, not necessarily in that order! We were unable to reach our final destination of Chalon sur Saone due to high water levels so our visit to Lyon was extended. We however did partake in a tour to Perouges which was not on the schedule...... but turned out to be an amazing town! The tour guide even sang Ave Maria for us in the church, which gave us chills! A beautiful end to our day along with the flat bread in the square.

Prior to boarding in Avignon, we spent a few days in Nice, a pre-extension, and enjoyed the restaurants, the scenery's and the shopping.

Arles (with Van Gogh) had so much to offer, as did Vienne (with numerous Roman ruins), Nice (Garibaldi's birth place) and Monte Carlo - a pocket of beauty and sunshine! Read more
