Cabin Review

The balcony rooms on Caribe level (10) are Premium, meaning you get a large balcony with a covered area and and open area. Levels 11 and up have small balconies with a direct view to the uncovered portion of my balcony. As far as I can tell, the rooms on level 11 and up are the same size. I was able to see the balcony of Dolphin Level (9), but don't feel sorry for them as these are all minim suites (they get a couch over the balcony).My room had a queen size bed configuration, a mini fridge, bed side tables and a vanity table. It also had a sitting chair and a small table, and a bar area above the fridge (great place to put the bottles of wine you bring on board with you (1 per passenger allowed).The size of the room was adequate and our steward had already put egg carton foam on the mattresses to make them comfortable. He also had a bucket of ice in the fridge waiting for us. We asked for the robes and a shower cap, but the steward noticing the wine bottles added wine glasses to the bar area.The bathroom had a smell, which remained after I used Clorox disinfecting wipes on all room surfaces, and even after applying dish washing liquid in the shower drain. I finally traced the smell to the shower stall and curtain (improper drying). I solved the problem by spraying the curtain with cologne and keeping it spread out after showers - next cruise I will add Fabreeze to my packing list :) The room had a hair dryer in the vanity area. The ironing board and machines are in the laundromat and were not too busy on the formal night. They even have water spray bottles there. The Laundromat has dispensers for detergent and softener (5 X US Quarters), and the Washing Machines and the Dryers used 8 X US Quarters each. There is a change machine in the laundromat.The room is mid ship and was relatively quiet. It has close access to the mid ship elevators which can get busy, so we used the stairs often rather than wait. Alternatively there are two other sets of elevators towards the front and back of the ship. There was ample room to store the suit cases under the bed, hang clothes (about 8 feet wide) and shelf clothes (7 or 8 shelves). The room also comes with a safe and 4 small drawers (bedside)The room was clean, but you can tell it has gotten used over the years. It is acceptable but I would have preferred a better carpet. There are 3 electric plugs (american). One in the bathroom and two near the vanity. Because the two plugs were too close once you plug a phone charger in one, you can't use the other. I would recommend a short extension chord to give you access to more outlets. I needed 5: iPad, 2 smart phones, a kindle, and a wireless speakers. There is no signal at sea for phones, so to preserve battery life, I recommend going into airplane mode. WiFi internet is available in the room for a fee. It is very slow and the fee is $0.79 per minute after a $4 set up fee. Slightly cheaper if you buy a package.You can request breakfast in the room but the options are limited. You can also request a fruit basket. For both you get forms you hang on the door. You can also book a special dinner or breakfast, but we opted not to do that. In the mornings I would bring breakfast from the International Cafe (continental) or Horizon Court (buffet). For evening wine, I would bring an afternoon snack (before 5 pm) from the Horizon court, and drink the wine I brought.
