Overall, the experience was amazing. This was our first cruise so I had heard from others (who had not cruised with Disney) how I would feel hearded like cattle through lines. This was not at all the case on the Disney Dream. The only time I was able to comprehend how many people were traveling with us was at Cast-A-Way Cay when I could see them all on the beach. Other than that, the Disney Dream runs a vacation like a well-oiled machine. To get an idea of the awesomeness, my thirteen year old daughter cried when it was over...yes, 13 and picky. I did the shorter cruise because this was our first cruise and I was not sure I would actually enjoy it. Disney proved me wrong. I loved it. As a forty something year old parent, I am embarrassed to say my favorite part of the entire three days was the food. You rotate through three different restaurants with three different menus for your three night cruise. Each night was a different theme, different food choices, different atmosphere, but the same wait staff that called you by name. Very personal. FYI, you can order more than one appetizer or dessert if you desire. If you choose to decline one of the three evening meals, you can always eat in the other dinners, such as Cabana's. There are live shows nightly. There are age appropriate clubs for your kids. There are deck parties for the family. There are bars. There are adult only areas. There really is something for everyone. We were not successful in getting everything done in three days which one may say was a successful trip. I think my family could take the same cruise again just to get some of the things checked off our to-do list that we did not get done this time. The ship was a vacation in itself, even if we had never docked anywhere. There was not one rude person from the time we entered the Disney terminal until we got out of our taxi up return. The sail away party set the stage for a perfect cruise. The next night, the pirate party rocked...with fireworks; movies are playing constantly on a big screen (big as my house) display on deck 11 above the pools. The aqua "duck" circles the never-ending energy deck 11 has to offer. There is a 24 hour self-serve beverage station open with complimentary sodas, coffees, & teas. There are princess and character meet-and-greet sessions. We were fortunate enough to see some holiday tree-lighting activities during our cruise. FYI: Disney allows you to carry-on alcohol (must be in carry-on and not checked luggage). If I would have known how flexible they were with this, I think I would have taken more alcohol as well as mixer. Disney does allow you to put one of your luggage tags on a case of water bottles so I highly recommend this. FYI: you can take something like a plain t-shirt, framing mat, pillow case, etc. to guest services upon arrival and the Disney characters will autograph them for free while you are cruising. There is a two item per stateroom limit so I took two framing mats and used them for each of my daughters favorite cruise picture. They loved them. Rooms were amazingly clean. If, and only if, I decided to complain, the one thing Disney could potentially improve would be the quality of the mattresses in our stateroom, especially for the fold out beds. Other than that, could not have asked for a better experience, food, staff, fun, variety, happiness, memories, etc. Thank you Disney!!!!!! And thank you, Arvin, for being such a great waiter!
