This was our third cruise on the Legend and have always loved this ship. As this was the first time the new itinerary was being offered, we were excited at the thought of two new ports that neither my husband nor I had ever been to before. We had a very active roll call, and what a pleasure it was making such wonderful new friends! It was like traveling with old friends, as we had really gotten to know each other prior to the cruise.

We flew into Ft. Lauderdale the day ahead and stayed at the Ft. Lauderdale Grande. We had stayed there two years ago, before the hurricane did major damage to the main tower of the hotel and before it changed owners. We had requested a room on a high floor, overlooking the harbor, and were never told that the tower was closed. We ended up in the West Villa, on the fourth floor, barely able to see anything more that the 17th St. Causeway. The price was $224 and not worth nearly that kind of money. The food was extremely expensive and the choices limited. I seriously doubt we will ever stay here again.

We arrived at the ship around 10:30, only to be greeted with huge long lines which were most unexpected. We were told that there had been some kind of a security breech, and that most of the people in line were debarking passengers, waiting for the shuttle. Everything was running at least an hour behind. The line for embarking passengers was pretty sizable too. Since we had a suite and were Platinum, we inquired about the VIP line, and eventually found someone that knew what was going on and they took us inside. Even with all the problems, we were onboard by noon.
