Be careful on booking this ship. The service was excellent and the room was so noisy we could not sleep for nine nights. The room also flooded and it had to be dried for two days. First the excellent ● Everything from the exceptional food well-served (we chose to eat with Alvin for every meal because of his outstanding skill and demeanor) to the care and concern of the manager was top-drawer. (My wife is a trained chef and I know what it is like to be spoiled.) ● The shore excursions were very good and very well managed, It is not easy to find good attractions on many of the small ports of call, but your staff did. The buses were good with excellent leg room as were the guides. Your staff were omnipresent to make sure all shore excursions went well. ● The bar was well stocked with premium brands and they were well served with positive attitude. The snacks were interesting and good. ● All personnel had positive attitudes, including the cleaning ladies and maintenance staff, and all spoke very good English. Now to the “other cruise.” When we boarded, the room was fine and I was hopeful since earlier communications from reservations was that room 232 was supposed to be very good. It was until night one when the constant loud drum of the engines and the very high pitched EEE--WAA of the steering mechanism alerted us quickly that this was not a good room for sleep. After a first sleepless night, we were given ear plugs (being told that the ship was full and there was no place to which to move us) and that was our first clue that this was not a new issue with the Pearl Seas). The sleeplessness aided only be naps while the ship was stationary, continued for all but one night of the otherwise excellent cruise: the last night in Toronto was beautiful because the ship was in port. To make things a bit worse (when we thought we had experienced all of the negatives), on Sunday of the cruise we awoke at 5:50 AM to a flooded room. Even the drawers in the bathroom were filled with water that also extended to the entire front of cabin 232 from front door to balcony. It took two days of attentive maintenance to dry the room for proper use. The Cruise company offered a 25% discount and an upgrade for a future voyage if we chose to. Since the on-cruise discount was offered at 15% then all of the nights of sleeplessness and flooding was worth a net 10%. We rejected the offer. It should be noted that the cruise company had sued the builder for many defects including noise. So book at the front of the ship and don't expect any real responsiveness if you have significant problems.

Two cruises in one.

Cabin Review

Cabin 232
Service was astonishing. Everyone, from cleaners to servers to customer service desk all cared about the quality and comfort of the guests. The touts were very well planned and convenient, even in destinations that were remote. The food was excellent and everyone went out of their way to meet our culinary preferences. The small ship environment was perfect without missing any comforts.Good ship, good service, and met and often exceeded our expectations.
