Sail Date: Oct 2014
Cabin: Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Having sailed on the Zaandam last year we were expecting something equally good. Having said that the Eurodam was in top shape. I only saw one worn stair carpet on the entire ship. All the finishes looked fresh although a bit dated. We certainly missed the day of the week carpet in the elevators.

The food was very good and the Tamarind and Pinnacle restaurants excelled. We only ate in the main dining room once and that was the Mariner welcome back luncheon. The noise level made it difficult to hear the person next to me. The service was impeccable considering the ship was at capacity due to the immediately preceding Veendam cruise from Quebec being cancelled due to mechanical issues.

The crew and especially our cabin attendants looked after our every whim.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Cabin VE

When I booked this suite I assumed that we could have access to a bow facing deck that was 1 cabin away from us. This turned out to not be the case because that adjacent cabins are officers quarters and the access was not permitted to the bow facing deck. The room is smaller than on other Holland america line ships especially the class that the Zaandam belongs to.The lighting was harsh and not controllable to our preference. The convertible couch was uncomfortable to sit in and there was no separate chair as there was in the Zaandam. The room was spotless and finishes were fairly fresh. The room was quiet with the exception of when the bow thrusters were used. The bridge was directly above us and projected over our suite. A search light protruded into our field of vision. There was no noise from the bridge.
