  3. Celebrity Constellation
We have loved Celebrity for 14 years and would love to see it return to its former place as number one in our minds. The people are still the best, but the product is no long a good one. The itinerary for this cruise was perfect, until they rerouted it. The final itinerary was about half of what we originally wanted. The shore excursions for the replacement ports which we had visited before, meant nothing new. On one in Naples, we literally drove around the block six times, seeing the ship each time and then stopped at a cafe for one scoop of gelato and drove up a hill for a picture and then back to the ship! The food was okay in the dining room, but less so in the cafeteria style dining. The quality of the food seemed to diminish with the day, so that the evening meal was terrible. Plenty of food, but nothing to eat. The photography staff was rude and seems to work with different price lists. We were about to purchase a package from one when another ran over to tell us we had to buy a more expensive one as the one we were buying, advertised in the brochure, was not available. The onboard shops are no longer carrying the great merchandise they carried in the past. Again, the room stewards, wait staff, dining room supervisor, sommelier, officers and Captain's Club Director were terrific. They try hard to make each guest have a fabulous time. Its the food, packages, merchandise and excursions that have slipped a great deal.

Great service, poor product

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 2
Cabin C2
The room is a good size for two people. Always clean and the stewards do a great job keeping it that way. The balcony is a good size and the Director's Chairs are strong and comfortable.

  • Nazareth and Galilee
The first part of the day was wonderful. Seeing the River Jordan and the Sea of Galilee was great. The afternoon in Nazareth was disappointing.

  • Bosphorus Cruise
Despite the rainy weather, we had a nice cruise on the Bosphorus and saw many of the sites we had seen on our own prior to the trip. The Spice Market was a substitute as it was Sunday and the Grand Bazaar was closed. Overall, it was good and the guide was knowledgeable and easily understood.

  • Bethlehem Walking Tour
We visited the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, which is located inside Palestine. We were amazed at the size of the wall around this area and waited a good amount of time to get in and out of Palestine. The walk up the hill from the parking lot is steep and not for those who can not manage it, but worth the walk if you can. We were unable to visit the cave as the line was about two hours long. Many were disappointed about this part of the trip but overall, it was excellent.

We walked through much of the Old City, including the Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepulcre, Western Wall. This was truly the highlight of our trip.

Rain and an arrogant guide made for a dull trip. We enjoyed the beauty of Valletta, but wish we had more time and better weather.

  • City Tour
The guide was fine, but the tour was basically a drive around the crowded downtown again and again for a total of six times around the block, seeing the ship each time. Then we drove to a cafe and had a voucher for a cup of gelato and then drove up the hill to take a picture and back to the ship.....that was it! Very disappointing.

Messina is a beautiful city and the city center church and tower, complete with glockenspiel that runs for 10 or 15 minutes at noon is worth the trip. Highly recommend it.
