Yes, there were glitches in this, the first Portland to Quebec City cruise for the Pearl Mist and crew. The cruise director admittedly hadn't been to some of our ports of call. The ship rolled uncomfortably the first night out, but the captain seemed to get control of it thereafter. Motoring to shore from anchor was somewhat of an ordeal in some cases. Our first meal was served nearly cold. The musician who performed many nights was an excellent pianist but it took him several evenings to adjust his music choices to the age group of his audience.

HOWEVER, the crew was friendly and anxious to please, and it was delightful to be on a brand new ship. The shore excursions were informative and varied, with knowledgeable guides, and we had the opportunity to tour some of the small towns on our own as well. The meals and service improved within a day of embarkation.

We enjoyed the experience enough to sign on for the Puerto Rico/West Indies cruise in March!
