Carnival Fantasy vs. Carnival Fascination, Port Charleston vs. Port Jacksonville, Little Stirrup Key vs. Half Moon Cay.

Three months apart in the Summer / Fall of 2014, we took two similar but different Carnival cruises. They were on virtually the same ships (sister ships Fantasy and Fascination), from two very nearby ports (Charleston, SC and Jacksonville, FL), to almost the same Bahama destinations (Nassau x 2 then Little Stirrup Key or Halfmoon Cay), with almost the same people (just wife and me, then us w/ our twin boy/girl 12 year olds). If you want to cruise from the SE US and not drive down to at least mid-Florida, these are the only two ships from the only to ports you can go on. I read a LOT of reviews here and I found them very helpful. So, I'll try to write a detailed helpful review comparing the two cruises to pay it forward.

We were not experienced cruisers but we enjoyed the first one so much that when I found a last minute deal during our kids’ fall break few months later, we jumped at the chance to go again. We booked the first cruise for two w/ a window room about six months in advance then the second cruise for four in interior about two weeks in advance. They cost about the same total amount. They say all their ships sail at full capacity. Apparently, this is because they gradually drop the price to no-margin as embarkation approaches. So, you can save money by waiting but you might not get all you want.
