We squeezed in a last minute cruise with our granddaughter (12) prior to her return to school. Since it was last minute we used RCCL for everything including air and transfers. We had a bit of trouble using their choiceair website and ended up booking air fares twice which they quickly remedied. The transfer to the ship took about an hour before we were able to get on a shuttle, but there was an extremely large group just ahead of us.

We were pleased with embarkation- it was extremely well organized and quick. However, the long waiting lines to the Windjammer were awful! Once we got to the head of the line at least 30 minutes later, we were assigned a table. In general the choice of foods and the quality were not above adequate on all of our visits for breakfast and lunch. Many times servings areas were very messy or empty especially at 'prime' times. The staff did not assist with drinks, but promptly cleared the table of empty dishes. Announcements constantly encouraged you to vacate your table quickly which was annoying.

We ate in the MDR for dinner. We were assigned late dining and waited over an hour to change to early dining. Once a signed a table the Maitre D led us all around the dining room looking for our table! We have never been in a dining room as crowded as this. Getting to and from the table required going around tables and requesting people move or get up. The food selection and service were adequate but far from inspiring. Our head waiter was wonderful and even made up a plate of food for my husband one night when he missed dinner.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Our room was clean but the tiniest balcony cabin we have had. Getting around the bed required turning sideways! Our attendant was good. ( I would never book a Boardwalk balcony as the area was stifling hot with no breeze.)
