We have just returned from a 6 night cruise on the Azura . The ship itself was very nice , well presented and cleaned to perfection what seemed to be 24 hours a day . Prior to travelling I read previous reviews regarding this ship and was of the opinion people only criticise if they have had a bad experience , so excepted there reviews with a pinch of salt , how wrong could I have been !! The food in the evening in the restuerent was very poor standard , not what I would have expected on a cruise liner at all . The dining experience was like a butlins food hall , noisey , packed liked sardines . Why advertise a black tie evening to dine in such a poor atmosphere. We attended one evening and decided the effort was not worth the experience, so much so we dined for the rest of the cruise in the buffet restuerent which was far more relaxing without the school hall dining experience.
The only saving grace of this holiday was the entertainment in the evening by the headline acts in the playhouse theatre . The stage shows , comedians , George Michael and Gary Barlow tribute acts being very entertaining .
Our last night we dined in the restuerent Seventeen , this was a fantastic evening and worth the cover charge , the food and service was excellent ,its a shame the rest of the dining on board could not be the same standard
The cabin we chose was basic as we did not intend to spend to much time in it ! Due to the time of year we elected not to have a balcony as the weather and destinations were not up to much. Our cabin steward was fantastic , never intrusive yet always seemed to have been in to keep our room spotless for us , a first class service from "Nazareth" so much so we tipped him separately upon leaving , English pounds are apparently preferred , thank you Nazareth for your time .
