I have recently returned from the Grand Asia tour from Beijing to Singapore. After a tiring day embarking we were informed that our ship would not be calling at Nagasaki or Shanghai due to super cyclone Yongpong heading in south of Japan. After initial disappointment we realised it is better to be safe than sorry, Later in the cruise after rounding a corner off Taiwan we had a small taste of what a cyclonic sea is like with huge swells and 26 foot waves!

After only travelling on smaller cruise ships I was a bit apprehensive about being on such a big liner but people seemed to fit in well in the various rooms. We kept fit by walking 320 steps to the International Dining Room each night from our cabin at the front of the ship. The outside movie screen was of a high quality and we were given excellent care with cookies and milk, pizzas and popcorn whilst relaxing under a warm Asian sky.

Cabins had great hanging space and a good area to use as a dressing room. Bathroom was the same as all cruise liners but having a change of towels twice a day was a bonus. The tv screen was of also great quality..the movies were varied and plentiful and we watched one every night. The verandah was roomier than any other ship I have been on and it was a bonus to smell fresh air whenever we wanted!

Cabin BC

Our cabin was always quiet..no other passenger or engine noise. It was a long way from the dining room but we got in lots of incidental exercise. The pillows were wide and very comfortable as was the mattress. I was pleased that we could adjust the temperature ourselves and having a balcony was superb and would never ever have an inside cabin!
