Just returned from our first Thomson cruise experience and what a delight. Our day began with a good flight from Manchester (on time) and arrived to lovely weather. The checking-in process was efficient and speedy with plenty of information to guide us through the stages. Our first impression of the Dream was it actually looked like a ship with the feel of a British stately home unlike the Norwegian Epic which was alongside and reminded us of a towering block of apartments by comparison. Yes, it probably is ready for a touch of TLC on the exterior but a few coats of paint will soon sort that out. We were welcomed aboard by the happiest of crew who were eager to please. The interior was spotless and tastefully decorated with plenty of brass and wood fittings, a pleasure to see good quality workmanship.

Our cabin was larger than we expected and immaculate. There was ample storage and hanging space and a very welcoming tea & coffee making facility. The bed was very comfortable as was the sofa and chair provided. A large TV was also fitted. Our thanks to Cicep, our steward for his service to whom nothing was too much trouble.

We ate in the Orion restaurant and the buffets at Lido and Sirens and found the food well prepared, varied and enjoyable. My wife & I opted for a drinks package which consisted of five bottles of wine for £64.95 which made each bottle £12.99. Well done to the entertainment team led by Cruise Director Paul, how refreshing to have a CD who was talented and who performed so admirably with the team. His assistant Shep will no doubt hold a similar post very soon. Congratulations to the team, they were the most talented vocalists and dancers we have seen on any of our previous cruises (not Thomson's) A special mention to James Humphreys and Brandie for their outstanding vocals. Going to see them each night was a real joy.

Cabin Review

Cabin Outside Plus

Our cabin was situated on deck 5 and was larger than we expected, it was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was large and very comfortable. There was sufficient lighting, especially at night when it became very soft and subdued. There was ample storage and hanging space. The tea & coffee making facility was very welcome. A TV, sofa and easy chair completed the fittings. The mini-bar was well stocked. The shower unit was an enigma and a challenge when first used, having one unit to power two shower heads and the bath taps. This may be updated during the next refurbishment. This was a quiet cabin free from any inside or outside noise and close to the lifts.
