Our review is with a perspective of prior sailings on RCI, Disney, Princess, NCL and Carnival. This ship is beautiful, new and the layout allows for the large number of passengers to be accommodated easily. The buffet was especially large giving ample space for both serving and enjoying your meal. Service in the main dining room however was slow, and some communication problems with servers. Portions were small, but who needs more food on a cruise? If still hungry, the buffet is open 20 hrs a day and room service is always available. Food quality overall was typical of cruise food. The cheesecake and pizza was really outstanding. Pre-cruise purchased beverage packages were ideal. We had savings off drink menu prices plus no service charge is added. Waiters seemed happy to accept the vouchers and the service in all the bars remained very good. The theater was the most beautiful I have ever seen on a ship, and to our surprise there were absolutely NO COCKTAIL waiters pushing drinks before the shows. Theater entertainment was very good too....although a bit confusing from time to time as they tried to get all talents on the stage in one show - which confused the theme (4 singers, 8 dancers, a juggler, acrobats, 3 contortionists...quite a mix). Singing voices were outstanding. We loved the two Opera Highlight shows the most....but that is more a matter of personal taste. I believe most other passengers liked the Michael Jackson tribute most of all. Missing was a variety of small venue entertainers in the lounges, like comedians, jugglers, magicians, hypnotists, etc. music in all the lounges was very good...and the trio playing classical music hours daily in the atrium were fabulous. Our cabin was great! We enjoyed a cabin upgrade. Booked an inside guarantee. Received upgrade to an O2 ocean view #8152, located right next to the atrium mid-ship. The biggest cabin we have ever enjoyed. My estimate by pacing off the floor with my feet was about 180 S.F. The bathroom was the smartest we have ever seen. The shower has glass doors rather than that clingy curtain that sticks to your wet body. Those doors fold in a clever way to move out of the way and adding a considerable amount of usable space. We really liked the abundant under-sink storage shelves with cabinet doors. The cabin closet was plentiful with 17 hangers, lots of drawers, lots of shelves. There were two upholstered chairs and a small table plus the under-counter stool. Stocked Mini-fridge. Beds were comfortable, but the pillows were a strange fill of lumpy foam. The cabin steward asked if we wanted other pillows on the first day, but we found them to be okay. Cabin Steward was wonderful...dressing our cabin and bathroom up every time we left the room...always fresh towels and rags for us. Strange, but we found no towel sculptures on our bed in the evenings...which is okay especially considering how attentive the steward was all week. In summary - Beautiful ship, excellent cabin, typical food quality, marginal entertainment options other than the main theater. Would we sail MSC Divina again? Absolutely....a great value!
