For the most part my husband and I agree with the honeymoon couple. The Star is a terrible, tired ship that needs to be retired!!
We had a balcony room. The bed was comfortable, and sheets were ironed--this was the only good thing about the room. The bathroom is in three different sections. The vanity area is fine, shower was good, but the toilet area was terrible. This area had a sliding door, and the door was only 16 inches wide. You had to enter sidewise, and my 6 foot + husband only had 4 inches between his knees and the wall. After using the toilet area, you had to exit (sidewise) into the vanity area, pull up your jeans and re-enter the toilet area (sidewise) to flush. This entry issue could be easily solved by just removing a portion of the sliding door. Would not be hard and would make the bathroom appear very spacious. The toilet bowls had apparently been cleaned with worn toilet brushes as they were horribly scratched. Toilet seat needed to be replaced--finish off in many sections. I noticed toilets in public area badly scratched and paint on stalls was in very bad condition.
Weather was bad and we wanted to stay in our stateroom to read. However, the love seat was so hard we asked for additional pillows. This didn't help a bit, so finally we were brought some 4 inch thick cushions. These worked after we added the pillows around the replacement cushions. The love seat was actually a sofa bed. It did not have cushions on the top as every other sofa bed I've seen. It merely had a slip cover.
