As usually independent travelers who develop our own itinerary, make lodging reservations, locate by choice and chance our meal experience, the cruise was a bit heart pounding in the planning of the unknown. All in all we traveled a few miles short of 5,000 miles did not buy gas, have wear and tear on the car/rent a car, had excellent meals at least 3 times a day, a nice room, live entertainment every night, and educational classes with that. Met many folks at open dining and during activities. Unpack once for 2 weeks. Felt our items were safe in our room. Food was excellent. Too excellent. Lido buffet had so much variety. Fresh squeezed orange juice every morning. Eggs Benedict my style (no bread) or Scottish Eggs Benedict-that is smoked salmon no Canadian bacon or just cereal and milk. Portions were appropriate for the 3 course meals in the Vista Lounge. Lobster tail as one of the entrees on two of the formal nights. Liked the Pinnacle Grill best for lunch. The entertainment was very good. A variety of entertainers that was appropriate for the age group. Humor at the shows and for the game nights was appropriate for a mature audience. Was worried about paying for days at sea that we would have to entertain ourselves with reading a book or baking in the sun working on a melanoma episode. Had a variety of classes with culinary items, at least 22 digital (microsoft) topics, discussion/lecture of history of the areas we were visiting, information about the ships functioning, tours of various areas on the ship. Some days we split up because there was so much to do. The ship was very clean and well maintained. The crew always had a smile and a Hello from the Captain to the newbies serving the candied ginger after dinner. Cons: Wine is a bit pricey per bottle but they will hold it so you can have it the next day(s). We brought two of our own so we had plenty. Wine selection was +/-. Wine stewards for the most part were excellent with recommendations. Spa services were more than what we pay at home.
