This was a very enjoyable holiday. The places we visited were all very interesting & the guides were, as usual with Viking, superb. The only downside was the low water level in the Elbe between Wittenberg & Meissen. This is not Viking's fault & they made up for it by bussing us to all the places advertised for the cruise plus an extra visit , to Leipzig. This obviously meant a lot of time on a bus instead of cruising so not as relaxing as we'd hoped particularly since we had to change ships, but, given the circumstances, Viking did an excellent job. This obviously is not the first time the water level was low but Viking had a well planned & executed Plan B. Apart from this, the rest of the cruise was wonderful. The food was particularly good. I am a Coeliac so cannot eat anything with wheat/gluten in it. No problem- the menu was adapted and all the staff knew I had to have gluten free food. All the staff were very friendly & exceptionally helpful.
This was our third cruise & we've just booked another (on the Rhone). That says it all.
Absolutely fine and well suited for it's main purpose i.e. sleeping.
