My wife has always loved castles and always wanted to see the Alps in Switzerland. This was the perfect cruise for doing that. We traveled the Rhine River from Amsterdam to Basel. We spent two nights in Lucerne at the Palace Lucerne hotel. We had a lake side view with the mountains in background. Fantastic.

The Viking Long ship was brand new, only three months old and very beautiful. From the rooms to the elegant atrium to the restaurant to the lounge and the upper deck everything was kept very clean and well kept. The one thing that we both commented on when we got home was how wonderful the crew treated us. I'm sure it wasn't easy with all the different needs people have. In my case, because of recent back surgery, I am not able to walk great distances. The concierge went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of. The morning we docked in Cologne she arranged for a rickshaw tour through the city. We had a great time with our guide, Stephan.

All the shore excursions were well planned out with very qualified guides. When a bus was used it was always very clean. The trips were always on time. It was amazing that the new modern buildings were often along side ancient ruins.

Cabin Review

Cabin Verenda suite

Our room was very nice and cozy. We had sliding glass doors that allowed us to sit on a small outside deck. This allowed us a great view of the river.
