A great getaway, but not the Royal Treatment we've been used to.

Cabin: Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

This was our 14th cruise, 6th on Royal Caribbean, and our 2nd cruise on Vision of the Seas. Our first cruise on Vision was in 2008, when she was berthed in Long Beach, doing the Mexican Riviera. That was a wonderful experience, and we hoped that this cruise would be as great as that one. It is obvious that there have been some significant cost cutting in the years since our last cruise on Vision, and it detracts from the overall cruise experience, especially for those of us who have cruised multiple times.

As we are Florida residents, we did not stay in Fort Lauderdale the night before, but made the 3 hour drive early on Monday morning. When we cruise out of Port Everglades, we use Park and Go near the terminal. Within 10 minutes of arrival at their location, we and our luggage were at the terminal.

Embarkation was quick, well organized, and we were onboard within 20 minutes. No problems there! As our cabin was not ready, we headed up to the Windjammer Cafe for a bite of lunch.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

This balcony cabin was very nice, with plenty of closet room, and an actual sofa big enough for me (at 6'3" tall) to actually lay down for a nap. The balcony was a nice size, with two chairs and a table for our drinks. Our cabin steward was very nice, and kept the cabin neat and tidy the entire cruise. Our only complaint came on Wednesday, when we woke to no air conditioning, which made cleaning up in preparation for Roatan a humid experience. There was a system problem on our floor, which was repaired by the time we returned from Roatan in the afternoon.
