We sailed on the Dawn for a 14-day Canada - New England September 12 - 26. Embarkation went fine, luggage arrived timely. We had cabin #8508 at the bow, because we like the action of the ship. We knew being above the showroom would cause some noise issues, but we knew the shows would be over by the time we retired so were not concerned. However, we forgot about the rehearsals! We like to take naps in the afternoon, but could really hear all the rehearsals quite acutely. We joked that we got to hear each show at least three times. Also, you can hear the anchor chain quite clearly from that part of the ship. Our itinerary had several tender ports, so we were awakened quite early by the anchor at those ports. With all that said, the cabin was roomier than I expected, with more storage than we needed. Our steward, Ray, was great.
Pros: We enjoyed the food and ambiance in Aqua. We found the Venetian dining room to be too noisy for us so only ate dinner there once. We ate in the Bistro once (as a comp for a troublesome commode) and the food was excellent.
Their sanitation policies on NCL are the best! We have never gotten sick on an NCL cruise, (mostly due to their "washy-washy" hand policy, I think). We have sailed on Carnival, Princess, HAL, and Royal Carib and had issues on all of them.
Adequate room, plenty of storage, no comfortable chair in the cabin. The bunk on the wall limited my husband's access to the bed - he had to crawl up from the bottom rather than enter at the side. The sliding door to the toilet is a real pain - literally - we both scraped our arms on the metal edges going in/out of the toilet room. The Bow location is noisy in the morning if the ship anchors or uses it's thrusters, and noisy in the afternoon/evening due to the Showroom location just below. We chose it because we like to feel the motion of the ship, and with the Force 11 winds and 18 ft seas near Sydney, the ship really moved!
