  • Destination: the Eastern Mediterranean

We had no problems at all, everything worked as planned

After reading previous reviews like many we had worries, but no one should be put off and we had a wonderful experience,

Italian Ship

What I would say that being an Italian Ship with the vast majority of cruisers coming from Non English speaking countries, we did miss out on getting snippets of good gossip/information from other cruisers on the ports etc but on the upside we didn't have to listen all day long to other English conversations whilst sun bathing !!

But you have no trouble with being understood by the staff - all very friendly and helpful and seeing Italians really enjoying and smiling themselves is infectious and you tend to join in

The load speaker announcements on the boat could have been improved for us being in four or five languages including English, you sometimes missed what was being said and sometimes wondered what it had been all about and what we had missed.

The Entertainment kept us busy - we saw a show every night of the 11 days all different, some were more enjoyable than others, but to get 11 excellent shows takes some doing.

No worries about the Language here as large parts of the show were in English

The “Ents Team were always around in the evening to get everyone enjoying themselves and up party dancing and normal ballroom dancing.

The Food is obviously designed around Italian taste with Main Dinner being a starter, Pasta, Main, Cheese and Desert but we always enjoyed the food

The Buffet Restaurants can get quite full ,with up to 3000 people all deciding to go to Breakfast or Lunch at the same time (even though it is open for two or three hours) but we always found somewhere to sit . There are a numbers of Buffet stations all have a similar selection but some have other foods, a case of looking around , Like Fried eggs can only be found in the Omelette bit.

Lunch time there were lots of choices as you would expect lots of pastas Hot meats Cold meats ets - even a Grill ,where you could get the Stable Diet of Hot dogs chips Burgers

We were second sitting which I worried about 9pm being too late but as it turned out, we preferred it from the start as it gave us a chance to get ready see the 7:30 show have dinner and then still enjoy an hour in one of the bars watching the Entertainment

The Dress Code wasn't an issue .Two formal nights but basically it meant most men had a jacket and women looked dressy, but there was nothing to stop you wearing what you liked- The other nights were simply classed as Casual .

The only thing I would say is different to the other Ships we have been on was that the Food buffets basically stop serving at 5pm and after that there is no choice other than to wait for the main Dinner. Which meant for us - 4 hours without FOOD availability, we nearly starved - but it did give the stomach a rest before the refill of Dinner) the only alternative available was a Pizza Area which was 4Euros,

Ship Condition

Can I say our cabin was spacious nothing wrong with it , in general everything worked on the ship, I even noticed that throughout the ship I couldn't find a Bulb not working (and they are thousands) - that shows the high standard of the upkeep on the ship and the attention being paid by the maintenance staff

Extra Costs

We did buy the all-inclusive package (Didn’t work out all the drinks we had but I am sure we got through our 23 Euros worth a day (now 25 Euros) , what with Fruit Juices, Hot Chocolate Pepsi etc + Wine at Dinner Plus all the normal alcoholic drinks during the day and evening

The good thing it did take away the worry of what you were spending every time and made the trip more enjoyable to order when you want and try odd cocktails etc .

I would say unlike the British ships we have been on before it was quite noticeable that there was a lot less people ordering drinks in general.

Just remember when doing the sums that the “tip charge is compulsory and adds 8 Euros each a Day on 11 days that was another £150 for two but it did take the worry about tipping anyone completely away -

But overall we had a great holiday, which was helped by 10 days of Glorious good weather,

Would we go again? – Yes Shame it will take a while to save up !!!

Cabin Review

Cabin Inside Premium 8283

Excellent Condition very spacious - Toilet / shower Average hotel size- two beds together as a Double Plus two beds that pull down from the ceiling to create a bed either side of the cabin wall - The pull down beds are large enough for an adult only bit tricky getting down the ladder at the end - Especially in the middle of the night :) Being on Deck 8 and near the centre of the ship hardly any noise from the engines and no noise whatsoever from Bars Music etc so ideal position - would ask for it again
