Cabin: The Haven Courtyard Penthouse with Balcony

Pros: Beautiful ship, lots of food choices, very friendly staff members, many activities for all age groups and the entire crew very mindful of sanitizing hands especially at eating venues. Easy embarkation and debarkation. LeBistro best pay restaurant for Fillet Mignon. Best shows were Burn the Floor, the Illusionarium Magic Show and the 2 Comedy shows. Legally Blond was my least favorite because of the boring story line. There were many more entertainment options (Howl at the Moon, the Grammy Experience, etc) but we only made it to these 4 shows due to scheduling conflicts. The kids will love this ship. Slides, rope courses, rock climbing and various kids clubs will keep them busy morning, noon and night.

Cons: Balconies are a bit smaller than NCL EPIC and even though a lounger may be a bit tight to have on balcony a foot stool would be useful to use with the chair supplied. No elevator mid deck. Some of the pay restaurants are not worth the money. Disappointed with Cagney's food and service and the $60 price tag per couple. The Cagney's on the NCL EPIC was much better. Casino was a bit smoky at times but it wasn't as bad as some of the reviews I had read. The NCL TV programming is the worst I've seen on any of our 30 cruises. Old reruns, old movies and many channels dedicated to NCL stuff. Hopefully they will upgrade their system on the new NCL Escape.

Cabin Review

The Haven Courtyard Penthouse with Balcony

Cabin H5

If you can afford it you must stay in the Haven at least once in your lifetime. Look for sales because they do discount these cabins once in a while. Location on Deck 16 was perfect and very quiet. There is a sun deck above but you rarely heard anyone moving chairs around. Although this category suite was a bit smaller than the same category on the EPIC, it served our needs very well. The balcony was a bit smaller and had 2 chairs with no foot stools and a very small table. We found it large enough for at least one lounge chair and a regular chair but NCL choose not to supply this furniture. We loved having a Coffee Maker in our room but NCL only supplied Decaf and Expresso K cups. When we asked for some regular coffee K cups we were told they don't have regular coffee. I suggest you bring your own K cups unless you like strong expresso. Not a game changer since the restaurant was just steps away. Loved the king size bed and the wonderful amount of storage. Wish they had a shower instead of a hard to get into tub but you can't have everything. Little perks include appetizers in the afternoon delivered to your door. You can have this customized, just ask. Priority seating in the main theatre as well as in the Illusionarium. Your own restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner and a private bar, pool and gym. Special embarkation and debarkation which speeds up the process greatly.
